Overview
This section of the Appalachian Trail is home to some of the most rugged cliffs and ravines in the park. Although popular with day hikers, our guides lead you to stretches where the path is less traveled, with views of Mount LeConte, the Oconaluftee watershed, and the Sawteeth.
Learn about the spruce-fir epidemic, how the Bunion got its name, and how nature and people created this raw beauty, with a seasonal backcountry lunch prepared by your guide.
After booking you’ll receive preparation guidance, a packing list, and meeting instructions. All participants sign a waiver, and multi-day guests complete a short registration and health form.
