Overview

Old-growth forest, a 25-foot waterfall, heath balds, and spectacular scenery, with a great chance of spotting black bears. We tour the Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail before reaching the Trillium Gap trailhead.

About the time you work up a sweat, the trail passes behind Grotto Falls before continuing to a heath bald on the ridges of Mount LeConte for snacks and hydration, with one more stop to cool off at the falls on the way down.
