Overview

This full-day hike begins on wide trails once used as roads into the 1930s, then meanders through dense forest and ancient rhododendron tunnels as you climb 3,800 feet to the Appalachian Trail.

On a clear day, take in Fontana Lake, Clingmans Dome, and rolling mountains for miles. We break for lunch at Spence Field and Rocky Top before returning the same route.
